EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

wellbeing programs

BNPS is committed to the physical and mental wellbeing of our students. Every student from Prep to Year 6 participates in regular social and emotional learning programs as part of the Curriculum. These programs are enhanced by a variety of incursions designed to improve social skills, enhance mental health and prevent bullying (refer to Year Level Information 'Excursions and Incursions'). In addition, all year levels participate in 'Circle Time' sessions throughout the year.

In 2015 we introduced the Better Buddies Program (an initiative of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation) - an annual whole school event is held for the national day of action against bullying and violence.

Circle Time

All year levels ‚Äď weekly sessions throughout the year

‘Circle Time’ promotes the development of positive relationships and complements our Restorative Practices approach to student behaviour and wellbeing. It has been shown to increase feelings of school connectedness and trust.

Circle Time involves activities which are conducted with all students and the teacher sitting in a circle. This enables all students to be seen and heard, and no-one is left out - participants feel that they are equal and connected to one another. Circle time can be used for fun activities as well as for solving problems that may be occurring within the classroom or the school yard.
